>> I got mocked for my love for plushies recently and I want to talk about my love for them because even If I look pathetic for loving them, They've always been there for me when I needed someone! <<
Some people are just assholes. It's never okay to mock people for what they love.
You are not alone. I love plushies. I'm not ashamed of it. Loving fuzzy things is a normal mammalian trait. We collect weird plushies. For hugging or sitting with, my current favorites are Snoozimals and Squishmallows. And texture-wise, some of the microfiber blankets.
>>Deep down I know plushies and toys aren't alive, I'm not stupid. But I feel like in a way I've given them all a part of my soul, and they feel alive to me because of that.<<
“Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'
>>I used to like drawing them in my sketchbook as humans and interacting with each other, maybe I should try it again.<<
Go for it! Art is good.
>> I know it's escapism, but it has helped me a lot with being able to sleep well and with going out. <<
See above re: normal mammalian trait. It's hardwired in mammals to find comfort in soft fuzzy things, so they will survive. And so, we find that things like plushies or blankets can help us in many ways. People who mock it just don't know enough about biology to understand what it's for. There's no reason to give up effective coping skills just because you've grown some. Use what works.
